Please please check out this article from The Onion. It is a work of absolute genius. Read very carefully the picture of the focus group response on the right hand side.

Remember, this is about Gigli (or whatever the fuck it's called) recently voted the worst film EVER.

Things you shouldn't do too often.....

Open a bottle of wine and put on your West Wing DVDs and then remember it's maybe the best drama to come out of the States for years and years and finish the bottle and start the second one around midnight.

I had to force myself to turn it off. Its intelligent, touching, well acted and above all very very funny. Go and borrow it off someone.

My mate Andy has name checked me in his blog (blogtrooper over there on the right, go on, open it, it won't hurt), and it made me remember that he is heavily involved with OAPs, Old Age Playstationers. This is a group of like-minded gamers who decided to get together to beat people who say "l337" and "OMG!1! U HAX!!1!!".
Unfortunately, that's me ;-)

Check out the link on the right as well...

I need a new car and I fancy one of these, hmmm, nice.

Thought for the day:

"Surely if every single person who does A-Levels passes them, they become meaningless as a method of defining a student's ability?"

AI experiment...

I'm probably well behind with this one but it does seem to learn.

Try it here.

Basically you think of something and it tries to guess what it is. However, if it fails to guess it asks you and then it learns from your answers.
We tried 'window'. it didn't get it. 20 minutes later it figured it out in 13 questions.

Model plane goes transatlantic

BBC NEWS | World | Europe | Model plane goes transatlantic:

"An international team of model aeroplane enthusiasts say they have managed the first successful flight by a lightweight remote-controlled plane across the Atlantic.
US, Canadian and Irish engineers worked together to ensure 'The Spirit of Butts Farm' - named after its testing site - landed safely in County Galway, Ireland on Monday 11 August, some 38 hours after it took off from Canada. "

Now *that's* what being an engineer is all about...
That really is a massive achievement. Well done.

BBC NEWS | Technology | Home users suffer web worm woe

BBC NEWS | Technology | Home users suffer web worm woe:

"At its height the virus was taking only 30 seconds to find uninfected computers. "

Just how little sense does that make???

Oh, and don't anthromorphisize machines. They hate it when we do that.

"Unlike many recent viruses the worm travels around by itself "......

What, with a rucksack and a cheque from Daddy? How does a computer virus travel around by itself? Surely it needs a network cable at the very least?

Nice to see the BBC managed to publish an entire article dedicated to the worm without a single link to the MS site where you can download the patch. Well done.

Its *here* by the way....

What's hidden in the latest w32blaster worm?

Symantec Security Response - W32.Blaster.Worm:

"I just want to say LOVE YOU SAN!!
billy gates why do you make this possible ? Stop making money and fix your software!!"

Hi! I'm an American!

Herald.com - Your Miami Everything Guide:

"``How do you remove an awful smell out of your microwave? I found a dead starfish on the beach and brought it home. It was very wet and I thought placing it in the microwave for a few minutes would help. The starfish exploded on my second attempt to dry it.''"

Jesus.

Just wanted to let you all know.....

That the new J-Lo and Ben Affleck film is currently listed as the WORST FILM OF ALL TIME.

bottom 100 films

That just makes me soo happy.

I can't beleive they really thought we'd go for this shit...

Hangingday :: Journal :: Wissam al-Zahawie is the new Uri Geller:

"The letter, however, would have struck anyone familiar with Niger as very odd. The heading included the words Conseil Militaire Supreme, a body which had been abolished in May 1989. It was signed by the foreign minister, Allele Elhadj Habibou. In 15 seconds an advanced Google search result shows that he held the post in 1988-89.
This is intelligence, let's remember, that Bush described as 'darn good'."

Apart from the fact that the car landed on its roof, check out the name of the city.

Rogue state anyone?

News:

"American pilots dropped the controversial incendiary agent napalm on Iraqi troops during the advance on Baghdad. The attacks caused massive fireballs that obliterated several Iraqi positions.
The Pentagon denied using napalm at the time, but Marine pilots and their commanders have confirmed that they used an upgraded version of the weapon against dug-in positions. They said napalm, which has a distinctive smell, was used because of its psychological effect on an enemy.
A 1980 UN convention banned the use against civilian targets of napalm, a terrifying mixture of jet fuel and polystyrene that sticks to skin as it burns. The US, which did not sign the treaty, is one of the few countries that makes use of the weapon. It was employed notoriously against both civilian and military targets in the Vietnam war."

What a bunch of wankers.

Now, *that's* novel....

BBC NEWS | Technology | Making money from virtually nothing:

"But Julian Dibbell is not trying to support himself, wife and daughter by programming or playing.
Instead in April 2004, he will declare to the US Internal Revenue Service that his main source of income is the sale of imaginary goods. "

Hmmm. interesting...

Hmm, funny looking liberation...

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | Trouble flares again in Basra:

"The fuel shortages have been exacerbated by some Iraqis bringing down power lines in order to loot valuable copper from the wires.
The resulting power cuts have meant the oil refinery has not been able to work and so diesel and petrol cannot be produced.
It is believed that Kuwaitis have also been smuggling the cheap fuel out of Iraq. "

If you are reading this and happen to be a U.S. taxpayer, well, look out because your guys are going to be out there for fucking years ata cost of 1 billion dollars a day.

Oh lucky you.....

Bush: A Pipeline through Rainforest for Buddies (Articles) Andrew Gumbel

Bush: A Pipeline through Rainforest for Buddies (Articles) Andrew Gumbel:

"George W. Bush is seeking funds to continue an immensely controversial project driving gas pipelines through pristine Peruvian rainforest, threatening rare species and indigenous populations, reports the UK newspaper The Independent. It should come as no surprise that beneficiaries would include close White House chums Hunt Oil and Kellogg, Brown, & Root, a subsidiary of Vice President Dick Cheney's old employer, Halliburton.
The pipeline -- sixty percent complete already -- cuts through, 'an extraordinarily rich ecosystem in the coastal Paracas reserve,' and has already scared off Citigroup and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. This is due in part to a report by the US Import Export Bank, a copy of which was obtained by lobby group Amazon Watch. The report states that the environmental impacts from the pipeline project include destroyed habitats, major mudslides, and 'significant, long-term and largely irreversible' deterioration, not to mention spreading diseases among indigenous peoples (42 per cent of the indigenous Nahua died from diseases contracted from outsiders in the 1980s)."

Seriously, is there a bigger twat alive today?
